Immanuel Quickley isn’t ready yet.

The Toronto Raptors point guard will not play on Oct. 11 against the Washington Wizards. Quickley has yet to be cleared for contact following a left thumb sprain, according to TSN’s Josh Lewenberg:

Immanuel Quickley (thumb) won’t play in Washington tomorrow. He still hasn’t been cleared for contact, though the Raptors hope that will happen soon and the plan is for him to get into at least 1 of the team’s final 3 preseason games.

Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic told reporters that the plan is to get Quickley to play in one of the Raptors final three preseason games.

Quickley was practicing and getting shots up earlier in the week and does seem close to making his return.

With the 25-year-old guard out, the Raptors will once again turn to Davion Mitchell and Jamal Shead to lead the point guard duties in Washington. Mitchell and Shead were both impressive in their first preseason game. Especially on the defensive end, bringing the kind of ball pressure and point-of-attack defense the Raptors have been working on during training camp. DJ Carton will likely get some playing time as well against the Wizards.

Scottie Barnes is expected to make his preseason debut on Friday. He has been out since suffering a season-ending fracture on March 1. He missed Toronto’s first preseason game for a personal reason.

The Raptors are dealing with a handful injuries with RJ Barrett, Bruce Brown and Ja’Kobe Walter all out. Barrett injured his shoulder during the Raptors first preseason game, while Walter is also dealing with a shoulder strain. As for Brown, he is still recovering from offseason knee surgery.

After their trip to Washington, the Raptors will return home on Oct. 13 to take on the Boston Celtics.

Former Raptors champion Danny Green retires

Danny Green is calling it a career.

The 37-year-old is retiring from the NBA after 15 seasons in the league.

The former Toronto Raptors guard announced his retirement from the NBA on his social media on Thursday morning.
