The Toronto Raptors might be targeting a center in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft.
Raptors president Masai Ujiri talked about the the team’s biggest need in his end-of-season media press conference and mentioned a big man.
The Raptors not only need a backup big for next season, but they could also use a future starting big with Jakob Poeltl under contract for one more year.
If the Raptors don’t move up and stay in the middle of the lottery they will likely take a center. The two centers that have been linked to the Raptors the most are Duke’s Khaman Maluach and Maryland’s Derik Queen.
In The Athletic’s latest mock draft, Sam Vecenie has the Raptors taking Queen at No. 8.
Derik Queen had an excellent weekend at the NCAA tournament, showing off his diverse skill set and aggressive mentality. He made a pair of 3s, was a significant target in pick-and-roll, and created his own shot and finished skillfully around the basket with impressive touch. pic.twitter.com/jbgdwhEdZ6

Queen is a very offensive oriented big man, he might be the most offensively skilled center in the draft. Queen averaged 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists at Maryland as a freshman. He also has great passing skills, good footwork and can finish around the rim.
Queen can create for himself offensively which makes him a very enticing potential pick. He can attack off the dribble and get down hill, while finishing with either hand. His sharp handle at his size is impressive and he makes smart decisions as a playmaker. He would be a nice fit in the Raptors offense.
On the defensive side, Queen doesn’t offer much as a rim protector and he won’t be a defensive anchor for the Raptors . Offensively is where Queen can truly shine. As for his three-point shot, it’s still developing. He shot 20 percent from three. While there is room to grow, Queen can be a nice pick for the Raptors going into next season.
Raptors could find themselves in Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes if star becomes available
Giannis Antetokounmpo could be the next big superstar traded.
Following his third straight first-round exit, his future with the Milwaukee Bucks is now uncertain.
With Damian Lillard tearing his Achilles and the Bucks roster having many holes, there is a strong possibility that Antetokounmpo could be dealt this offseason. Cue the Toronto Raptors.
