The Toronto Raptors nearly pulled off the upset against the Boston Celtics on Saturday night.
The Raptors and Celtics battled into overtime, when Jayson Tatum hit the game-winning three-point shot at the buzzer.
However, according to the NBA’s Last 2 Minutes report Tatum traveled before hitting the shot that gave the Celtics the victory.
This was a huge mistake made by the officials which cost the Raptors the game. Had Tatum been called for the travel, the Raptors would have regained possession with a few seconds left with a chance to beat the Celtics.
Another missed call was on the same play moments before Tatum travelled. Davion Mitchell should have been called for a personal foul when he bumped into Jaylen Brown who was trying to set a screen for Tatum. The NBA determined Mitchell delivered enough contact where he should have been called for the foul.
The other incorrect calls the league admitted came in the fourth quarter.
Jakob Poeltl should have been called for a three-second violation with 26 seconds left in the fourth quarter. During the same play, Tatum should have been called for a personal foul when making contact with Poeltl. Neither call was made as the play resulted in a Poeltl turnover.
With the loss the Raptors are now 2-12 on the season, which is last in the league.
Bruno Fernando will miss time with ankle injury
The Toronto Raptors keep getting riddled with injuries.
Bruno Fernando is the latest player to go down. He has an ankle injury and will be sidelined Monday night against the Indiana Pacers.
Fernando rolled his right ankle Saturday night against the Boston Celtics and is expected to miss some time.
