Raptors Rookie Jamal Shead Left Off All-Rookie Teams

Toronto Raptors guard Jamal Shead was left off the 2024-25 NBA All-Rookie First and Second Team.

Shead received two second-place votes, totalling two points in the final voting poll.

The NBA All-Rookie First Team featured San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle, who was unanimously selected after being named Rookie of the Year. He was joined by Memphis Grizzlies teammates Zach Edey and Jaylen Wells, Atlanta Hawks forward Zaccharie Risacher and Washington Wizards center Alex Sarr.

Edey is a Toronto native who the Grizzlies selected with the 9th pick of the 2024 NBA Draft. He averaged 9.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 66 games for Memphis.

The Second Team featured Miami Heat center Kel’el Ware, Chicago Bulls forward Matas Buzelis, New Orleans Pelicans big man Yves Missi, Portland Trail Blazers center Donovan Clingan and Washington Wizards guard Bub Carrington.

Shead had a standout rookie year for the Raptors. He appeared in 75 games with the team and started in 11 contests. Shead averaged 7.1 points, 4.2 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 19.6 minutes per game. He shot 40.5 percent from the field, 32.3 percent from three-point range and 76.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Among rookies, Shead ranked 14th in total scoring (534 points), 4th in total assists (316) and 4th in total steals (58).

Other Raptors rookies Ja’Kobe Walter and Jonathan Mogbo did not receive any All-Rookie votes.
