The Toronto Raptors could see their full starting lineup in action when they host the Orlando Magic on Jan. 3.
RJ Barrett who has been battling an illness is questionable to play, according to TSN’s Josh Lewenberg. Barrett has missed the Raptors’ last two games with the same illness. If Barrett is able to return, it will be the first time this season that the Raptors will have their full starting lineup in tact.
Immanuel Quickley made his long awaited return from an elbow injury against the Brooklyn Nets on Jan. 1 and he had a nice performance of 21 points and 15 assists in 32 minutes of action. Quickley returning to the point guard position allowed Scottie Barnes to return to forward. With Barrett, things will slide even more into place for the Raptors.
The starting lineup of Quickley, Gradey Dick, Barrett, Barnes and Jakob Poeltl have only played a total of 4 minutes together. Therefore, it will be nice to finally see what this starting group is capable of when they play together.
Jonathan Mogbo is listed as out on G league assignment, per Lewenberg. With the Raptors getting healthy, the rookie has fallen out of the rotation. He and Jamison Battle who’s also on G League assignment are expected to get more run with the 905, per Lewenberg.
Bruce Brown who sat out for injury management against the Nets is expected to be back in the rotation for this one.
For the Magic, their stars in Paolo Banchero (oblique) and Franz Wagner (oblique) remain out along with Mortiz Wagner who suffered a season-ending torn ACL. Anthony Black (back) is out and Trevelin Queen (illness) is day-to-day.
