Bruce Brown could have a busy trade market at the trade deadline.

The 28-year-old has yet to suit up for the Toronto Raptors this season as he is still recovering from offseason knee surgery. However, he is expected to make his season debut soon.

Brown was acquired by the Raptors in the Pascal Siakam trade and immediately was on the trade market last season. However, the Raptors were unable to get their desired asking price for him so they elected to hold onto Brown and pick up his $23 million team option.

Despite the on-going trade rumors, Brown told reporters last week that he’s hoping to remain with the Raptors.

NBA insider Jake Fischer spoke to Sportsnet 590’s Blake Murphy and Matt Bonner earlier this week and he talked about Brown’s trade market.

Fischer mentioned that the new NBA CBA has made things difficult to move players in Brown’s contract range. He outlined an example when the Milwaukee Bucks were calling for Brown at last season’s trade deadline, but they couldn’t aggregate salaries to get to Brown’s number unless they parted ways with Brook Lopez:

Fischer did suggest that the Golden State Warriors could have interest in Brown this season.

“I’m not like, reporting that Golden State has called Toronto, but like, the Warriors loved  DeAnthony Melton for the exact type of things that Bruce Brown, when healthy does… Is he someone that now becomes on their radar because Melton’s hurt? Like, that’s a fit. Personally, I haven’t checked that on either side yet if that could come to fruition soon. But there will be options for [Brown’s trade market] as well, I guess what I’m trying to say.”

It’ll be interesting to see how the Brown trade market plays out this season.

Kelly Olynyk linked to Warriors

Fischer also talked about another Raptors player who could be targeted by the Warriors. That being Canadian Kelly Olynyk, who has yet to play for the Raptors this season.
