The Toronto Raptors keep getting riddled with injuries.
Bruno Fernando is the latest player to go down. He has an ankle injury and will be sidelined Monday night against the Indiana Pacers.
Fernando rolled his right ankle Saturday night against the Boston Celtics and is expected to miss some time.
This injury will further deplete the Raptors frontcourt rotation. The team continues to be without Kelly Olynyk who has yet to play this season with an ongoing back injury.
Jakob Poeltl will be the Raptors only traditional center available against the Pacers.
Chris Boucher and Jonthan Mogbo should fill in and handle the backup center responsibilities as undersized big men while Fernando is sidelined.
The Raptors only other backup big is rookie Ulrich Chomche, but he is likely to remain with the Raptors 905.
The Raptors are dealing with a ton of injuries to start this season as the team is still without Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, Ja’Kobe Walter and Bruce Brown.
Meanwhile, the Pacers will be on the second night of a back-to-back. Andrew Nembhard, Isaiah Jackson, Aaron Nesmith and James Wiseman were ruled out on Sunday against the Miami Heat.
Jakob Poeltl is having a career year
Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl is on a mission to begin this season.
The center has put together two masterful performances against the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics.
Against the Celtics, Poeltl put up 35 points and 12 rebounds on 16-for-19 shooting from the field.
