Raptors legend Kyle Lowry is in town as the Toronto Raptors get ready to host the Philadelphia 76ers.
Every time Lowry visits Toronto it is special. He brings flashbacks of all of the great moments he had with franchise.
Lowry accomplished a lot during his time in Toronto, which culminated in him helping the Raptors win its lone championship in 2019.
Given his body of work, it’s almost certain that Lowry’s jersey will one day be retired by the Raptors franchise. If this happens his jersey will join Vince Carter’s up in the Scotiabank Arena rafters.
Lowry talked about what it would mean to him if his jersey is retired by Toronto when his playing days are over, via The Shift:
“The world. Something that a kid can only dream about. But, you know,
we’ll see if that ever happens.”
In many circles, Lowry is considered the GROAT (Greatest Raptor Of All Time). Lowry averaged 17.5 points, 7.1 assists and 4.9 rebounds in 601 games during his Raptors tenure. He helped the team get out of the gutter and led them to their greatest decade of success.
Lowry was asked how he feels about fans calling him the GROAT, via The Shift:
“I like the name, it’s funny, but you know as long as the fans say it for me, it’s just, it just shows how much they love me and they respect me and I gave pretty much everything. Blood, sweat, tears, championship, losses, wins. I gave everything to this place and I continue to you know I guess get the fruits of my labor by coming back up here from the fans and everybody around so yeah it’s a pretty cool name.”
While Lowry’s legendary career is winding down, he still has a lot in the tank. He’s hoping to help the 76ers get over the hump this season and win a title for his hometown of Philadelphia.
2024 Emirates NBA Cup court revealed
The Toronto Raptors will be getting a purple court after all.
The NBA unveiled the Raptors court for the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup and it will be purple.
The Raptors have brought back their iconic purple jerseys for their 30th anniversary season, so it’s only fitting that the court will also feature the classic purple.
