It’s only a matter of time until Kyle Lowry’s No. 7 jersey will be retired by the Toronto Raptors.

The 38-year-old is entering his 19th season in the league as he looks to help the Philadelphia 76ers win a title.

Lowry was asked about the idea of having his No. 7 jersey hanging from the Scotiabank Arena rafters one day, via Leigh Ellis:

“I think Vince’s [Carter] jersey going up it’s going to be a phenomenal special night. I think he’s well deserving of having his jersey retired because of what he’s meant for the franchise. If I go up there, hopefully one day it happens, it’ll be a very emotional, fun night. But we’ll see when that time comes, if that time comes.”

Former Raptors head coach Nick Nurse told Ellis that the Raptors should honor Lowry by putting up a statue of him doing a particular pose.

The former Raptors point guard tried to guess the pose, via Ellis:

“I have no idea, Nick [Nurse] is a creative genius. So I don’t know what pose he would think but if it goes up, I’ll be happy to be able to say that I did something for a place that I called my home.”

Then Ellis revealed that Nurse said the statue would be of Lowry taking a charge. “Yeah it was a game-winning charge,” Lowry said smiling.

Many fans consider Lowry the greatest Raptors player of all time. When looking at his loyalty, production and winning a championship with the team, it’s hard to argue that.

He was part of the Raptors greatest era and was the leader of the franchise every season.

Lowry averaged 17.5 points, 7.1 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game during his nine seasons in Toronto.

Vince Carter shares touching story during hall of fame

Vince Carter was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame after 22 seasons in the NBA.

During his induction speech, Carter shared a touching story about Lowry.
