Former Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry is a free agent.

Now 38-years-old, Lowry does not have many years left and is looking to cash in on one more ring. After signing with the Philadelphia 76ers via a buyout, he showed some flashes of positive play as a starter and from off the bench.

Given his veteran status, it makes sense for contending teams to target him as a backup guard, who can play 15-20 minutes a night.

With free agency a month away, there is already a team that is rumored to be interested in Lowry’s services. That being the Los Angeles Clippers, who are also interested in former Clipper Chris Paul as well, per Marc Stein:

“I nonetheless heard this week that Paul and Kyle Lowry, whose free agency is looming after finishing last season in Philadelphia, are veteran guards said to interest the Clippers.”

This would make for an interesting fit given the Clippers star talent.

Considering how compact the Western Conference is, there may not be a team that is clearly at the top of the food chain. Nonetheless, L.A. is always looking for guard play and have shifted to a veteran-orientated roster.

In 23 games with Philadelphia, Lowry averaged 8.0 points, 4.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds on 44.4 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from deep.

All things considered, that is nice production from a veteran minimum player and those stats could help the Clippers. Lowry also plays with a lot of hustle and energy, which he showed in the 76ers’ first-round playoff series against the New York Knicks.

Kyle Lowry calls Toronto his ‘home’

Despite being traded to the Miami Heat in the 2021 offseason, Lowry will always be remembered for what he did for the Raptors franchise.

Now potentially moving to the final destination of his career, looking to contend, Lowry calls Toronto his ‘home.’
