With the NBA Draft Lottery this Sunday, the Toronto Raptors will soon know where they fall in the 2024 NBA Draft.
It will be interesting to see what Toronto will do to surround their young core of Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett.
With a full offseason with this core, a vital part of turning this franchise around is by hitting on draft picks.
CBS Sports’ Adam Finkelstein revealed in his latest mock draft that he has Toronto taking Kentucky’s Reed Sheppard with the No. 6 pick in this upcoming draft.
Sheppard is a 6’3″ guard that is a useful offensive tool. He is known for his shooting, but also playmaking and sound decision-making. The 19-year-old averaged 12.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists on 53.6 percent from the field and 52.1 percent from three-point range.
This would certainly be an intriguing addition to the Raptors’ guard room, as they need someone behind Quickley. Having the luxury of another offensive-threat would strengthen the guard rotation.
Next up is the No. 19 pick via the Indiana Pacers, who Finkelstein projects Toronto taking Tidjane Salaun from France.
He is a 6’9″, 212 pound forward, who is ranked No. 2 for his position in this draft class. This would be more of a project pick as Salaun is 18-years-old and needs to continue to develop as a player.
However, during his time overseas, he averaged 9.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1 steal on 39.6 percent shooting from the field and 31.6 percent shooting from deep. He could add some length and athleticism to the wing position.
Bleacher Report predicts Toronto taking Reed Sheppard at No. 6 as well
This is not the first time Sheppard is projected to be selected by Toronto. In an earlier mock draft by Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report, he slotted the Kentucky Wildcat landing with Toronto.
