The Toronto Raptors got the win over the Charlotte Hornets 123-117.

RJ Barrett led the Raptors with 23 points, as Toronto handed the Hornets their ninth straight loss.

Miles Bridges scored a career-high 45 points for Charlotte but it was not enough.

Scottie Barnes who was named an All-Star replacement prior to this game finished with 18 points. Immanuel Quickley scored 18, and Poeltl had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Raptors (18-33) finished their six-game road trip with a 2-4 record.

Toronto battled back and took the lead on a Barrett triple in the corner and then a layup by Quickley gave them a 118-115 lead with two minutes left in the game.

But Toronto would battle back to take for good on Barrett 3 from the corner and a driving layup by Quickley with two minutes left giving the a 118-115 lead.

Then Poeltl came up with big plays on both ends of the court. He tipped in a Quickley miss to make it a two-possession game and then he blocked Bridges in the lane on the other end to seal the win.

The Raptors three ball was big in this one. The team made 17 of 33 three-point attempts. Barrett and Gary Trent Jr. each hit four.

The Raptors will return home on Feb. 9 to host the Houston Rockets. Fred VanVleet will be in Toronto but he will not play. He is out with an adductor strain.

Next on tap

Before the Raptors play in their next game they will have to get through the NBA Trade Deadline which officially ends at 3:00 PM/ET on Feb. 8

The Raptors have many players on their roster who could be dealt. Bruce Brown Jr. has recently gained a lot of traction and others names like Chris Boucher, Dennis Schroder and even Trent Jr. could be on their way out.

Toronto could look a lot different when they take on Houston.
