As September rolls along training camp inches closer and closer. The 2023-24 NBA season is almost upon us.

The Toronto Raptors look to cement themselves in the playoff race after being eliminated in the Play-In Tournament last season by the Chicago Bulls.

The expectation is that Scottie Barnes will take a third year leap and solidify himself as the future of this team.

Barnes is gearing up for this upcoming season and recently he played in some Rico Hines Runs. Barnes looks ready to make a statement:

Scottie Barnes absolutely DOMINATED at Rico Hines Runs

He couldn’t miss a shot, played with a lot of energy, and showcased his defense/playmaking skills. Easily looked like the best player on the court (along with GTJ) pic.twitter.com/tIx1G7ZFPw

The forward looked dominate on defense with his on-ball pressure and rim protection. Barnes also showcased his playmaking and ball handling skills.

Barnes’ jumpshot looked much better as well. His shooting is something that he needs to improve this season, especially from beyond the arc. He’s only a career 29% from three. Barnes’ shooting has been an emphasis for him this offseason and he’s shown some improvement in that area during these runs.

There is a high chance that this will be Barnes’ team moving forward. There is still uncertainty with Pascal Siakam and whether or not he’ll be traded in the near future. Raptors fans should be excited for what Barnes will bring to the table for this upcoming season.

Barnes expects ‘great things’ this season

After a disappointing finish to last season, the Raptors are hoping to bounce back and make it back to the playoffs.

With Fred VanVleet signing with the Houston Rockets in free agency, Barnes will have the ball in his hands a lot more.

Despite the loss of VanVleet and many media pundits counting the Raptors out, Barnes is still a firm believer in this team and expects ‘great things’ this season.
