The Toronto Raptors believe in Scottie Barnes and his potential. The former Rookie of the Year has a lot of high expectations heading into his third season.

Barnes recently participated in a Powder League scrimmage and put up an NBA 2k statline. He was clearly the best player on the court by a wide margin.

Barnes finished with 30 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists. It’s crazy to think that Nikola Jokic put up this statline in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

Now it’s important not to put too much stock into a Pro-Am performance especially when the competition isn’t high. Let’s not forget Malachi Flynn scored 73 points in a Pro-Am game last year.

However, it’s still exciting to see Scottie Barnes put up these numbers and completely dominate. The Raptors are hoping that Scottie Barnes can put up a ton of triple-doubles this season.

Scottie Barnes’ third season

Scottie Barnes is coming off a second season that looked similar to his first season.

He averaged 15.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists compared to the 15.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists he posted in his rookie year.

Scottie Barnes is expected to elevate his game under Darko Rajakovic. Rajakovic recently said that he wants the ball in Barnes’ hands more this season:

Darko Rajakovic says on the broadcast he wants to put the ball in Scottie Barnes’ hands a lot more

“Sometimes you need to make a small step back to take a huge leap forward and we’re really hoping for Scottie to have a breakout year for us.”

With Fred VanVleet gone, Barnes is going to be heavily involved on the offensive side of the ball and might end up being the primary point guard.

Nonetheless, the opportunity is there for Scottie Barnes to take a giant year 3 leap.
