RJ Barrett scored 27 points and helped power a high-efficiency offensive display as the Toronto Raptors defeated the Utah Jazz 143-127 on Monday night. Toronto controlled the game with sharp shooting and a decisive third-quarter run that created separation.

The Raptors snapped a two-game skid and improved to 40-31, holding onto fifth place in the Eastern Conference. The team maintained a narrow edge over Atlanta in the race to secure a direct playoff spot. Utah, already eliminated from postseason contention, dropped its sixth game in the last seven.

Toronto’s offense operated with pace and precision. The team shot over 60 percent from the field and hit 20 three-pointers, creating consistent pressure on Utah’s defense. The Jazz kept pace early but could not match Toronto’s scoring output after halftime.

Third Quarter Breaks Game Open

The game remained competitive through the first half, with both teams trading baskets. Utah relied on strong individual scoring, while Toronto spread production across its lineup.

The turning point came in the third quarter. Toronto outscored Utah 49-30 in the period, building a 29-point lead. The Raptors moved the ball quickly and found open looks from both inside and beyond the arc.

Barrett and Ja’Kobe Walter led the surge. Barrett attacked the paint and finished efficiently, while Walter provided perimeter shooting that stretched Utah’s defense. The Jazz struggled to contain drives and failed to close out on shooters.

That stretch shifted the game’s rhythm. Toronto controlled possessions and limited Utah’s ability to respond. By the end of the quarter, the Raptors had created a margin that proved too large for the Jazz to overcome.

Balanced Scoring Fuels Toronto

Toronto’s offense featured contributions from multiple players. Barrett shot 10 of 15 from the field and added four three-pointers. He also recorded six assists without committing a turnover in limited minutes, reflecting his control and efficiency.

Sandro Mamukelashvili added 23 points and provided consistent scoring in the frontcourt. Walter finished with 21 points, hitting six of eight attempts from three-point range.

Scottie Barnes delivered an all-around performance with 20 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds. He helped organize the offense and created opportunities for teammates throughout the game.

Jamal Shead contributed 15 assists, helping maintain the team’s ball movement and pace. Off the bench, Jamison Battle scored 17 points, while Gradey Dick added 13.

Toronto’s ability to distribute scoring and maintain efficiency across the lineup created constant pressure. The team shot 54 percent from three-point range and 61 percent overall, limiting Utah’s chances to regain control.

Jazz Lean On Young Core

Utah relied heavily on its younger players for scoring. Rookie Ace Bailey led all scorers with 37 points, continuing his strong individual form. He attacked the basket and found space against Toronto’s defense, especially in the first half.

Brice Sensabaugh added 24 points off the bench, providing a scoring boost during key stretches. However, Utah struggled to match Toronto’s depth and efficiency.

The Jazz kept the game close early but could not sustain defensive consistency. Toronto’s third-quarter surge exposed gaps in coverage and limited Utah’s ability to respond.

Despite strong individual efforts, Utah lacked the collective execution needed to keep pace. The team has now fallen further behind after a difficult stretch of results.

Fultz Makes Season Debut

The game also marked the season debut of Markelle Fultz for Toronto. The former first overall pick played 16 minutes off the bench, finishing with two points, five assists, and three turnovers.

Fultz recently joined the Raptors on a 10-day contract after playing in the G League. His presence adds another ball-handling option as Toronto continues its road trip.

While his role remains limited, his ability to create plays could add depth to the Raptors in the coming games.

Playoff Position Tightens

Toronto’s win helps stabilize its position in the Eastern Conference standings. The Raptors remain just ahead of Atlanta and other teams competing for a top-six finish. Securing that position would allow Toronto to avoid the play-in tournament.

The team’s recent inconsistency highlights the importance of performances like this one. Strong offensive execution and balanced scoring will be critical in the final stretch of the season.

Utah, already out of playoff contention, continues to evaluate its younger players. The team has shown potential in individual performances but faces challenges in overall consistency and defense.

Up Next

Toronto concludes its five-game road trip with a matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. Utah wraps up its homestand the same night against the Washington Wizards.
