The NBA Draft Lottery takes place on May 12 and it will be a massive day for the Toronto Raptors.

Currently, Toronto possesses the seventh best odds and hope the ping pong balls fall in their favor this year.

With flattened draft odds, it allows for teams to jump up in the lottery. Meaning the Utah Jazz with the worst record in the NBA is not a shoe-in to get the No. 1 pick.

Utah, the Washington Wizards and the Charlotte Hornets are vying for the first pick as they all possess a 14 percent chance of getting it.

For Toronto, they have a 7.5 percent chance of jumping from seven to No. 1. Which feels high and a chance is all a team needs when it comes to the lottery.

To put it into perspective, the team with the 7th best pre-lottery position has moved into the top-4 in four of six years since these new odds.

In 2019, the New Orleans Pelicans got the first pick. Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls moved up to fourth in 2020 and Toronto got fourth in 2021.

Although winning the lottery remains unrealistic, the Raptors odds slightly improve to pick third with a 8.1 percent chance.

Then their odds continue to steadily climb moving down the line with a 31.9 percent chance to move into the top-4.

Ideally, Toronto would like to climb in some capacity because their prospect pool would grow.

After not receiving good luck last year, hopefully, that tide turns this year. Next season projects to be positive with Brandon Ingram eager to make his Raptors debut.

To add another young prospect to this roster, regardless of where they fall in the lottery is a positive.

CBS Sports projects Raptors taking South Carolina’s Collin Murray-Boyles in latest mock draft

As mock drafts continue to be released, many anticipate the Raptors staying put at No. 7. Which is not the end of the world, as there are plenty of prospects to select.

A name that has yet to be connected to Toronto is South Carolina forward Collin Murray-Boyles, who CBS Sports had going to Canada in their latest mock.
