There is still no definitive timetable set for Brandon Ingram’s return.
The Toronto Raptors forward is progressing as expected, the team said. Ingram is increasing his on-court activity but he is still limited to solo work with no timetable for a return to game action or even practice. The next update on Ingram will come in 2 weeks, per TSN’s Josh Lewenberg.
Ingram has been out since Dec. 7 with a severe ankle sprain. The next update on him will bring the Raptors to March 20. At that point, the Raptors will have 13 games left. Considering where Toronto sits and what their intentions are, there is a strong chance that Ingram won’t make his debut with the team until next season.
The Raptors latest game against the Orlando Magic suggested Toronto could look to shut down their starters or play them less minutes, making way for their younger players to get more reps.
The Raptors have indicated that the upcoming draft is important to them, so it seems like Toronto will play for their draft lottery positioning, rather than make a push for the play-in. Therefore, Ingram shouldn’t be rushed back.
It will be interesting to see what Ingram’s status is two weeks from now.
Ochai Agbaji (ankle) is out of his walking boot and he will start increasing his workload, but he’s still not practicing. Jonathan Mogbo has a nasal fracture. He’s out for at least a week and will wear a mask when he returns. Meanwhile, Gradey Dick is out at least 2 weeks. Jamison Battle (broken nose) and Garrett Temple are back with the team, per Lewenberg.
The Raptors will host the Utah Jazz on March 7.
