Immanuel Quickley took over in the second half, scoring 17 of his 24 points after the break as the Toronto Raptors edged the Orlando Magic 104-102 on Sunday night.

The game came down to the final seconds, with Franz Wagner missing a potential game-tying layup for Orlando as time expired. The Raptors, who went scoreless for the final 2:52, survived after a costly backcourt turnover gave the Magic another opportunity with 4.7 seconds remaining.

RJ Barrett contributed 22 points for Toronto, while Jakob Poeltl recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Wagner led Orlando with 25 points, and Paolo Banchero added 23, including a three-point play that trimmed the Raptors’ lead to 104-100 late in the fourth quarter.

Toronto played part of the game without rookie Gradey Dick, who exited after taking an accidental hit to the face from the back of Cole Anthony’s head in a fall late in the first half.

Takeaways

Raptors: Quickley, who also added four assists, finished just one point shy of his season high. His strong third-quarter performance helped Toronto snap a three-game losing streak.

Magic: Orlando, already struggling with injuries, suffered another setback with the news that Jalen Suggs will require knee surgery. The Magic have now lost four of their last five games, all at home. Suggs has missed 25 of the past 26 games, during which Orlando has gone just 7-18.

Key Moment

Quickley sparked a late third-quarter surge, scoring or assisting on 10 of Toronto’s points in a 12-1 run. He knocked down a three-pointer, completed two three-point plays, and assisted on a Jonathan Mogbo layup in the final 74 seconds of the quarter, helping the Raptors turn a close game into an 81-72 advantage.

Key Stat

Toronto’s bench provided a crucial boost, outscoring Orlando’s reserves 30-21, led by Jamal Snead’s 12 points.

Up Next

The two teams will meet again in Orlando on Tuesday night for a rematch.
