Chris Boucher continues to get his trade value up.
The 32-year-old has had an impressive month of January for the Raptors with his consistent play from off the bench.
Boucher has averaged 12.3 points and 4.6 rebounds on 53.2 percent shooting from three in 11 games this month.
According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype multiple teams have expressed trade interest in Boucher with the Feb. 6 trade deadline looming:
“The Nuggets, along with the Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, and other teams, have also expressed trade interest in Boucher, league sources told HoopsHype. The 32-year-old forward is in the final year of his contract worth $10.8 million and has averaged 10.7 points in only 17.5 minutes while shooting 37 percent from 3-point range.”
Boucher’s skillset would be a great addition for a contender. The Nuggets are thin with their bench depth and could use his floor spacing. Meanwhile, the Knicks and Clippers would also benefit from Boucher’s size and shooting ability.
The Nuggets likely have the most difficult pathway to a deal for Boucher since they don’t have a lot of mid-size contracts. They would likely have to include Zeke Nnaji, but he’s on a multi-year deal, so the Nuggets would potentially have to give up a first-round pick to sweeten the pot for the Raptors.
If the Raptors decide to do business once again with the Knicks, the deal could involve Mitchell Robinson. He’s owed nearly $13 million next season and he could be a nice center depth piece behind Jakob Poeltl but his injury history is a concern.
Then there’s the Clippers. There’s a possibility of the Clippers sending out P.J. Tucker’s expiring contract and second-round draft capital to acquire Boucher. This would make the most sense for the Raptors since they wouldn’t tie themselves to any long-term money and would receive future draft assets.
If Boucher continues his hot play, expect the interest for him to continue to grow.
