The Golden State Warriors reportedly have their eyes on Kelly Olynyk ahead of the 2025 NBA Trade Deadline.
The Toronto Raptors center was linked to the Warriors by NBA insider Jake Fischer.
Fischer was on a Bleacher Report live stream and he talked about the Warriors’ interest in the Canadian:
“Two names who I think are really at the top of the list to consider for Golden State [Warriors] are Kelly Olynyk from Toronto [Raptors] who’s absolutely on the open market. He’s someone who the Warriors almost traded for and had very significant trade conversations with the Utah Jazz last trade deadline before Kelly Olynyk ended up going to Toronto.”
Olynyk signed a two-year deal worth $26.5 million with the Raptors last season. He has since been the team’s backup big man behind Jakob Poeltl.
Olynyk missed the Raptors’ first 23 games with a back injury and has played in 19 games this season. He’s averaging 6.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in 14.9 minutes per game. He got off to a slow start but he has looked a lot better for Toronto lately. He’s coming off his best performance of the season against the Milwaukee Bucks where he scored 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting.
Olynyk would make a lot of sense for the Warriors who could use his play style from off the bench. The 33-year-old is a capable outside shooter who can help space the floor. He’s the kind of player the Warriors would love to have around Stephen Curry.
Ultimately, it comes down to if the Raptors are willing to part ways with Olynyk and what offer they would be willing to take.
