The Toronto Raptors are embracing the tank as they look to secure a top lottery pick for the 2025 NBA Draft.
Currently with an 8-30 record and sitting second to last in the Eastern Conference, Toronto’s odds look to be in their favor. However, injuries have truly been what has derailed their season.
Regardless, this is their first full season as they navigate through this youth movement. So, winning is not to be expected, but the development of their young core is what truly matters.
In The Athletic’s latest mock draft, Sam Vecenie has the Raptors selecting Rutgers’ Ace Bailey at No. 3.
This draft class is highlighted by the highly talented projected No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg of Duke. However, Bailey is another name that is brought up in these conversations as a franchise-altering prospect.
The freshman is averaging 18.9 points and 7.6 rebounds on 45.5 percent shooting from the field and 35.3 percent shooting from deep. As a 6’10” forward, Bailey’s skillset is simply too good to pass up on.
With the Raptors offensive production lacking, Bailey could provide an explosive option. He slots in as a nice fit alongside Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley.
Bleacher Report projects Ace Bailey in latest mock draft
At this point, the Raptors have a good idea of where they stand. This team is no where near contention and are destined for the bottom this season.
Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman also had Toronto selecting Ace Bailey no. 3 overall.
