Gradey Dick notched a new career-high of 30 points against the Charlotte Hornets.
The second-year player looked comfortable putting the ball on the deck and finishing at the rim.
Dick shot 11-for-17 from the field and added 3 steals as well.
“I thought Gradey [Dick] played overall decent game. Obviously he shot the ball really well, he was able to score quite a bit. I wish that he had more force rebounding the ball and that’s something we’re going to continue focusing with him on offensive and defensive end that he needs to be in there and help more,” Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic told reporters after the game.
Dick is only averaging 1.4 rebounds per game thus far. However, the 20-year old has been scoring the basketball well. He has averaged 18.8 points per game on 48.5 percent shooting from the field and 34.4 percent shooting from deep in 5 starts for Toronto. Offensively is where Dick has shined and has shown many different things in his arsenal.
“He’s learning how to get his shots on the floor and he’s learning also how to take it all the way to the rim and playmaker from there. He was in several pick-and-roll situations tonight and it was good experience for him to be in those. The film is going to be very valuable for him to learn from it and get better,” Rajakovic said.
With Scottie Barnes out for the next couple of weeks, Dick will be involved in the offense even more. Therefore, expect his numbers to continue to rise.
Raptors terrible season start only got worse with Barnes injury
The Toronto Raptors’ 2024-25 NBA season has gotten off to a disastrous start, and the recent injury to their rising star, Scottie Barnes, has only compounded their woes.
With just one win in their first five games, the Raptors find themselves at the bottom of the league standings, and their NBA odds have plummeted accordingly.
