Jalen McDaniels is on the move again.
The Sacramento Kings are trading the former Toronto Raptors forward and a second-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The Spurs are expected to waive McDaniels, per Charania:
Spurs plan to waive McDaniels, sources said, while Kings open roster flexibility for a potential addition down the line. McDaniels has averaged 6.9 points and 3.3 rebounds over his first five NBA seasons. https://t.co/aAhGazE6kW

The Kings traded Davion Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov, the draft rights to Jamal Shead and a 2025 second-round pick via the Portland Trail Blazers for McDaniels back in June.
One of the main reasons why the Kings completed this trade was to get out of Vezenkov’s contract.
However, the Raptors bought out Vezenkov who left the entire $6.6M salary on the table to join EuroLeague’s Olympiacos, which meant the Raptors owed him nothing and cleared him entirely from their books.
For the Kings this is a bit of a confusing move since they traded for McDaniels but then had to attach an additional second-rounder to get rid of him when Vezenkov was bought out for nothing.
The move for the Kings will give them open roster flexibility as they could look to add someone else down the line.
McDaniels never developed into the type of player the Raptors were hoping for. The 26-year-old saw a massive dip in his shooting percentages last season, shooting 34.4 percent from the field and 16.9 percent from deep. In his lone season with the Raptors, McDaniels averaged 3.4 points in 50 games.
McDaniels has averaged 6.9 points and 3.3 rebounds over his first five seasons in the NBA.
