The Toronto Raptors are in the midst of their rebuild.

Toronto traded away both O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam this past season, making it clear that they will be building around Scottie Barnes moving forward.

It will be a process for the Raptors and things will take time before the team returns to contention.

However, now is still a crucial period for this franchise as they look to put the right building blocks together in hopes of creating something special.

Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic recently had an interview with Mozzart Sport in Serbian, as he talked about Toronto’s outlook.

Rajakovic weighed in on the Raptors rebuild and how it will be a process:

“Now we have a lot of things to do in terms of the NBA draft, free agency, signing players and building a team. As everyone knows, building a team in the NBA is not like that easy job, you can’t just go to the market and buy players, but there is a process that must be followed, how to improve the team through the draft, but also signing a small number of players who are on the market during the season….before us is a process that will certainly last several years.”

Then Rajakovic was asked about the main goal of the franchise and when he sees Toronto competing at a high level again:

“The point of the whole story is that the team is built around Scottie Barnes. This season he also made it to the All-Star selection. We are building the future and the backbone of the team around him, that the boys from 22 to 24 years old do the same, and that we are slowly rising with them in order to fight with the best opponents and be candidates for the playoffs and the title. This is a process we entered aware that nothing can change overnight. We don’t want the process to drag on for five or six years years, we want to be a competitive team again in two or three years.”

Rajakovic also talked about this year’s draft saying that there’s not a big difference between those who are in the top five-six-seven and those who will be available from 15-20. Therefore, the Raptors can still get a solid player at No. 19.

ESPN projects Kyshawn George to Toronto in latest mock draft

The Toronto Raptors are getting ready for what will be an eventful two-day draft.

ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo put out their latest mock draft and Givony has the Raptors taking Kyshawn George out of Miami at No. 19.
