The 2024 NBA Draft is set to take place on June 26 and 27.
The Toronto Raptors will have the No. 19 and No. 31 picks in the draft.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype put out his mock draft and he has the Raptors taking Yves Missi out of Baylor:
“With several players capable of playing center on the roster, including Jakob Poeltl, Kelly Olynyk, and Chris Boucher, this aggregate mock draft poll selection of Baylor’s Yves Missi is interesting, to say the least. Missi started playing soccer as a youngster in Cameroon. His parents both played for the national team, and his brother played at Harvard. At a basketball camp a few years ago, Missi started playing basketball, and he wanted to play high school basketball. Missi, who will turn 20 during the combine, has drawn comparisons to Clint Capela by various NBA executives. However, Missi told HoopsHype that he compares his game to Dereck Lively II.”
Missi’s teammate Ja’Kobe Walter spoke to HoopsHype about Missi’s game:
“I knew about him from high school. I saw a guy catching lobs and blocking shots. We got into scrimmages, and we saw that he had different skills. He just started playing basketball, and he’s got great touch. His athleticism is insane. People were trying to jump with him, and he was dunking on people the first day. He was getting three dunks on people’s heads each practice. He’s a freak of nature.”
This would be an intriguing pick for the Raptors. They are in need of a developmental big and Missi has nice upside.
Missi measured at 6-foot-10 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan. The Bears center is regarded as one of the best defensive bigs in this year’s class. The freshman averaged 10.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while playing just 23 minutes per game. The 19-year-old doesn’t appear ready to be in an NBA rotation so he will likely spend a lot of time with the G League next season.
Raptors keeping tabs on Akron’s Enrique Freeman ahead of draft
Another interesting prospect the Raptors reportedly have their eyes on is Akron’s Enrique Freeman.
Toronto interviewed Freeman along with many other teams, per Sarah Todd of Deseret News. The Raptors could use their No. 31 pick in the second-round to snag Freeman.
