Bruce Brown was acquired by the Toronto Raptors in the Pascal Siakam trade that sent the forward to the Indiana Pacers.

Brown was vital in winning a championship with the Denver Nuggets last season, which earned him a payday in free agency from the Pacers. He is a role player that every contending team could use on the quest for a ring.

As the trade deadline approaches on Feb. 8, the rumors surrounding Brown will continue to mount. Since the Raptors and the 27-year-old aren’t on the same timeline, it makes sense to move off from him.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, he reported on his podcast #ThisLeague Uncut that Toronto would like a first-round pick and a quality player for Brown:

“The Raptors’ asking price for teams interested in acquiring Bruce Brown has been described as a future 1st-round pick & a quality player…at a minimum.”

For Toronto, getting another first-round draft pick is feasible as Brown has worked his way up to the upper echelon of role players.

As Masai Ujiri continues to build around Scottie Barnes, it makes sense for him to seek future assets.

Stein’s cohost and fellow NBA insider Chris Haynes chimed in and said that “the Raptors are receiving an abnormal account of calls regarding Brown.”

This should not be surprising as Brown is a player who can essentially do it all and fit in any system. As a 3-and-D guard, his skillset is a hot commodity and Toronto will have to sort through packages and offers.

Teams are beginning to see where they stand and what upgrades they need to make. Brown would certainly help any contending or playoff team.

Bruce Brown linked to Lakers

While teams are expressing interest in the Raptors guard, not many have been revealed up to this point.

However, one of them is the Los Angeles Lakers, who were in the mix to sign Brown last summer. Expect L.A. to make a push to try and acquire him before the trade deadline.
