Bruce Brown played in his second game with the Toronto Raptors on Jan. 20 against the New York Knicks.
He might not be a Raptor for long though, as it has already been speculated that he could be move ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski recently linked Brown to the Los Angeles Lakers and Knicks.
Brown seems to be in favor of potentially being traded to the Knicks given his latest comment.
Prior to the Raptors game against the Knicks, the veteran praised Tom Thibodeau and welcomed the idea of joining New York via Jared Schwartz:
“I am a dog. I can do just about whatever Tom Thibodeau needs me to do.”
Brown speaking openly about playing for Thibodeau and the Knicks while he’s still on the Raptors roster is a little odd, but it’s clear that he wants to win now.
When speaking to Sportsnet’s Michael Grange, the 27-year-old is aware of the trade rumors but is unsure about the current situation:
“I don’t know anything. I’m not requesting anything … that’s up to Masai, whatever he wants to do. If he moves me he moves me. If he doesn’t, I’ll stay. It is what it is.”
Ultimately, it won’t be surprising if the Raptors move Brown before the trade deadline. Toronto is clearly in a rebuild and Brown doesn’t fit their timeline.
Brown’s value on the open market is reportedly ‘significant’ so maybe the Raptors can cash in on a first-round pick for him or multiple second-rounders.
Brown is a veteran who can offer a lot to a contending team on both ends. He won a championship with the Denver Nuggets last season and he was a huge contributor for them in the playoffs.
Bruce linked to Lakers
Another team that Brown has been linked to recently is the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers seem like they are going to be busy once again at this year’s trade deadline so Brown is someone they could target.
