The Toronto Raptors revert back to their inconsistent ways as they get blown out by the Atlanta Hawks 125-104.
The Raptors got off to a slow start in this one and then ended the first and second quarter poorly as the Hawks took a 10-point lead into halftime.
Atlanta never looked back and led by as many as 24 on route to the convincing win.
Trae Young was lights out in this one finishing with a game-high 38 points and 11 assists in the win.
The Hawks had 6 players score in double-figures, including Bogdan Bogdanovic who scored 20 from off the bench. Atlanta made 16 threes and their offense was too much for the Raptors to keep up with.
Meanwhile for Toronto, Scottie Barnes led all Raptors scorers with 23 points. He also had 8 assists, 4 rebounds 2 blocks and 1 steal in the loss.
Barnes was really the only player who showed up for Toronto. Pascal Siakam had 15 points on only 11 shots, Jakob Poeltl had 15 and Trent Jr. had 11 from off the bench.
Toronto cooled off from three in this one only making 10-31 threes. Also poor free throw shooting continues to hurt the Raptors. They only made 14-25 free throws.
The Raptors also got outrebounded 55-33. This game was a reminder that the Raptors are very flawed.
Toronto came out with no effort or energy, which was the complete opposite from the win on Dec. 13.
Trade season is officially here and it might be time for Masai Ujiri to get busy on the phone because the Raptors don’t look like they will be turning the corner soon.
The Raptors are 10-15 and with the loss they fall back down to 11th in the Eastern Conference.
