Otto Porter Jr. played in just 8 games last season for the Toronto Raptors.
Going into this season there was hope that Porter Jr. would stay healthy and help the Raptors as a key rotation piece.
Porter Jr. has done good job for the Raptors in 11 games he appeared in thus far.
However, the veteran just can’t catch a break. Just as he was beginning to get into a rhythm in the Raptors rotation, the 30-year-old sustained a left foot contusion Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets and was immediately ruled out.
The contusion happened on the same foot Porter Jr. had season-ending surgery on. He had surgery on his big toe last year.
The X-rays were negative. Porter Jr. has missed significant time in most of the last five seasons and hopefully this is just a minor setback for him.
Porter Jr. has already been ruled out against the New York Knicks on Dec. 11, but head coach Darko Rajakovic said he’s feeling better:
Otto Porter is out for Raptors vs. Knicks Monday. Diagnostic images on his bruised foot were good and he’s feeling better, Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic said Sunday.

With Porter Jr. out, the Raptors are expected to go with a nine-man rotation which will include
Gary Trent Jr., Precious Achiuwa, Malachi Flynn and Chris Boucher from off the bench.
Porter Jr. should slide back into the rotation as the team’s 10th man when he does return.
The only other injured Raptors player is Christian Koloko who continues to battle through ongoing respiratory issues.
The Raptors will travel to New York to take on the Knicks on Dec. 11. Then Toronto will return home for a two-game set against the Atlanta Hawks starting on Dec. 13.
NBA insider suggests Heat could have interest in O.G. Anunoby or Pascal Siakam
The Miami Heat are one one of the teams that could have interest in O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam as the trade deadline approaches.
If the Raptors continue to slide, they could be looking to make a big trade.
