The Toronto Raptors struggled to find consistency all throughout the 2022-23 season.
Toronto finished 41-41 and were the ninth seed. They played the Chicago Bulls in the Play-In Tournament and lost.
As a result the Raptors secured a lottery pick in the NBA Draft. The Raptors selected Kansas Jayhawk forward Gradey Dick with No. 13 pick.
Dick admitted on draft night that he wanted to meet Drake, who is a prominent supporter of the Raptors. Well, it came to fruition when Dick made an appearance in Drake’s son, Adonis’ ‘MY MAN FREESTYLE’ music video.
The music video predominately features the Raptors’ practice facility.
Adonis and his friends are seen playing basketball on the practice court, in the film room and at a ‘press conference’. Dick is seen sitting alongside Adonis and Drake at the press conference.
He has not yet made his regular season debut as he continues to adjust to the Canadian lifestyle. Dick wasted no time meeting with Drake, which must be a surreal feeling for the rookie.
On Sunday, the Raptors had their second preseason game against Cairns Taipans at Scotiabank Arena. Dick had five points, two rebounds, two assists on 2-for-7 from the field and 1-for-4 from deep.
Through two games, Dick has struggled to shoot with consitency. The forward has put up 10 points on 4-for-13 shooting and 2-for-8 from three.
In a total of 31 minutes, it’ll be intriguing to see where Dick lands in the rotation when the regular season begins.
Toronto is looking to get back into the playoffs and and 19-years-old Gradey Dick looks to be apart of that.
