The Toronto Raptors have played one preseason game thus far. They defeated the Sacramento Kings 112-99 on Oct. 8.
After spending months predicting how this team will do and how the new additions will look, Raptors fans were finally able to see the team in action.
The Raptors looked solid in their first preseason game and now they have three more preseason games left before their home opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct 25.
The Raptors play on Oct. 15 against Cairns Taipans at Scotiabank Arena. While it seems like the rotation may be set, these next three preseason games will serve as a chance for younger players on this team to showcase their talent.
Three players who did not see the floor last Sunday were Makur Maker, Ron Harper Jr. and Jeff Dowtin. They didn’t play due to coach’s decision.
Maker is not expected to make the Raptors roster this season and will likely spend his time with the Raptors 905. Maker played for the Capital City Go-Go last season and now can develop in Toronto’s system.
Harper Jr. appeared in nine games last year for Toronto, only averaging 5.3 minutes. Since he’s on a two-way contract, he will likely spend time with the 905 this upcoming season as well.
Dowtin, however, is on a non-guaranteed deal and has more to lose than Maker and Harper Jr. Dowtin should see some playing time on Sunday as he tries to land a roster spot.
After Sunday, the Raptors will travel to Chicago to play the Bulls on Oct. 17. The final game on the Raptors preseason slate is against the Washington Wizards on Oct. 20.
The Raptors have three more games to get into form before the regular season begins.
Rajakovic wants to run with a 10-man rotation
Former head coach Nick Nurse kept his rotation short and relied heavily on the starters.
Now with Rajakovic at the helm, he wants to have a 10-man rotation.
Rajakovic electing to go with a longer rotation will keep guys fresh throughout the course of the regular season.
