Schroder had an amazing tournament run. He averaged a team high 19.1 points and 6.1 assists per game. He led Germany to an undefeated record at the FIBA World Cup.
Germany went 8-0 in the tournament, becoming the fifth consecutive World Cup champion to go unbeaten.
Schroder was interrupted by his teammates at his postgame news conference. They gave him a water shower and celebrated around him:

Schroder stepped up when Team Germany needed him the most. After his ‘worst game’ ever, Schroder responded with 24 points, 9 assists in the upset win over Team USA and then with a dominant performance in the Gold Medal game against Serbia.
Germany went on a 22-10 run in the third quarter which gave them some breathing room after a tight first half. Serbia was unable to claim the lead down the stretch. It got within 79-77, but Schroder provided the dagger as he blew past two defenders for a layup on the ensuing possession to restore a four-point lead for Germany.
There was concern over Schroder battling an Achilles injury ahead of the World Cup, but not only did he look healthy but he was the best player at the tournament.
