James Harden seems determined to cut ties with the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.
The 76ers ended trade talks for James Harden this past weekend, per ESPN.
This prompted disgruntled star James Harden to say that he will never play for an organization that Daryl Morey is a part of again:
James Harden: “Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of. Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.” pic.twitter.com/AmHJ0WwbF2

Harden is reportedly unhappy with 76ers president Daryl Morey over the lack of a long-term maximum-level contract offer, per ESPN.
It’ll be interesting to see what Daryl Morey does next. Will he keep James Harden despite his recent comments or will he be motivated to trade him now?
According to Keith Pompey, the 76ers want drafts picks and an elite player in a trade package for James Harden.
Harden is 34-years-old and has a history of demanding trade requests so it’s hard to imagine a team willing to meet the 76ers’ asking price.
However, if the 76ers don’t trade Harden his frustration could have a negative impact on the entire team and create a toxic environment.
Joel Embiid turns 30-years-old this season and he could be close to his breaking point. He already expressed that he just wants to win a championship whether it’s in Philadelphia or somewhere else:
“I just want to win a championship. Whatever it takes. I don’t know where that’s gonna be, whether it’s in Philly or anywhere else, I just want to have a chance to accomplish that.
If the 76ers have a downfall this season the Raptors could benefit from it in a competitive Eastern Conference.
As far as a trade goes, it’s highly unlikely that the Raptors would interested in a trade for James Harden at this time.
Nick Nurse handling the James Harden situation
Nick Nurse was fired by the Toronto Raptors after a disappointing 2022-23 season. It seemed like Nick Nurse lost the locker room as his time in Toronto ran its course.
Now things won’t be getting any easier for the former champion. He will have to get the 76ers ready to compete this season in the mists of the James Harden drama that surrounds the team.
The NBA schedule is not out yet, so Nick Nurse’s return to Scotiabank Arena is unknown. Whether or not James Harden will still be a member of the 76ers at that time remains to be seen.
