RJ Barrett delivered a standout performance with a season-high 31 points while surpassing 8,000 career points, leading the Toronto Raptors to a dominant 122-92 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.
Scottie Barnes contributed 17 points, while Jakob Poeltl recorded 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sandro Mamukelashvili added 13 points as Toronto ended a four-game losing streak against Dallas and secured its first home win in five games.
Daniel Gafford led the Mavericks with a season-best 21 points and 11 rebounds. Rookie Cooper Flagg scored 17 points, and Brandon Williams added 16, but Dallas continued its struggles, dropping its seventh consecutive game and losing 17 of its last 19.
Brandon Ingram and Ja’Kobe Walter each scored 11 points for Toronto, while Immanuel Quickley and Gradey Dick chipped in with 10 apiece.
Barrett’s milestone made him the eighth Canadian player to surpass 8,000 career points. At 25 years old, he is the youngest member of that group, which includes active stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dillon Brooks, along with Hall of Fame guard Steve Nash.
Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, finished 7-for-17 from the field in his third game since returning from a sprained left foot that sidelined him for eight games. He also collected eight rebounds and six assists. Late in the fourth quarter, Flagg received the first technical foul of his career after protesting a non-call on a drive to the basket.
Gafford was nearly perfect offensively, making all 10 of his field-goal attempts and his lone free throw.
Toronto capitalized on Dallas’ mistakes, converting 20 turnovers into 27 points and dominating the fast-break battle 21-4. The Mavericks did not score a fast-break point until the fourth quarter.
Dallas did hold an advantage in second-chance scoring, outpacing Toronto 27-12.
Both teams struggled with long-distance shots. The Raptors shot 10-for-36 from three-point range, while the Mavericks went 5-for-30.
