Immanuel Quickley delivered a dominant performance Tuesday night, pouring in 40 points and handing out 10 assists as the Toronto Raptors pulled away early and cruised past the Golden State Warriors 145–127 in Golden State’s first game without Jimmy Butler.
Quickley equaled his career-high with 31 points while shooting an ultra-efficient 11-for-13 from the field and 11-for-11 at the free-throw line. Scottie Barnes complemented the effort with 26 points and 11 assists in a game that marked Toronto’s highest scoring output of the season and Golden State’s poorest defensive showing.
Stephen Curry finished with 16 points for the Warriors, while Buddy Hield led the way offensively with season-best totals of 25 points and six made 3-pointers, connecting on every attempt from beyond the arc. Draymond Green chipped in six points, six rebounds, and five assists.
Hield briefly gave Golden State hope when his three-pointer with just over five minutes left trimmed Toronto’s lead to nine, but Brandon Ingram quickly answered with a triple of his own to halt any momentum. Ingram finished with 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
With Butler sidelined by a season-ending right knee injury, Warriors coach Steve Kerr turned to Jonathan Kuminga for the first time in 17 games. The athletic forward responded with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting and five rebounds in 21 minutes. Kuminga, who has recently expressed frustration over his reduced role and requested a trade, could now see his situation shift as the Feb. 5 deadline approaches.
Golden State struggled from long range early, missing its first five three-point attempts from Curry, who didn’t connect until the final seconds of the second quarter. The Warriors trailed 70–50 at halftime after shooting just under 40% overall and 6-for-23 from deep. Toronto’s 70 first-half points tied the most the Warriors have allowed before the break this season.
Despite snapping a four-game winning streak, Golden State has still lost only five of its last 17 games. Turnovers proved costly, however, as the Warriors gave the ball away 18 times, leading to 34 Raptors points.
