ESPN has shaken up its lead NBA broadcasting booth ahead of the 2025-26 season.
ESPN announced today in a press release that veteran analyst Tim Legler will join ESPN’s lead NBA broadcast team, replacing analyst Doris Burke. Legler will be joined by Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame broadcaster Mike Breen, analyst and NBA Champion Richard Jefferson and reporter Lisa Salters.
The broadcast team of Legler, Breen, Jefferson and Salters will call the 2026 NBA Finals on ABC, the NBA Conference Finals, a Christmas Day game, high-profile first and second-round games during the 2026 NBA Playoffs and NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC.
Even though Burke has been replaced in the lead broadcast team, ESPN has extended her to a multi-year deal. Burke will continue to call NBA games on ESPN and ABC, including the NBA Sunday Showcase series. She will work a full slate of games throughout the regular season and NBA Playoffs alongside play-by-play broadcaster Dave Pasch.
ESPN has also signed Jefferson to a new, multi-year deal. Jefferson joined ESPN in 2019 as a studio analyst and he worked his first NBA Finals as an analyst in 2025. Jefferson will call ESPN’s top high-profile games and will make studio appearances as well.
ESPN previously agreed to a contract extension with Lisa Salters.
ESPN will enter its 24th consecutive season in its NBA game coverage. It will be led by a talented group of play-by-play voices, analysts and sideline reporters. The ply-by-play voices include: Mike Breen, Dave Pasch, Ryan Ruocco and Mark Jones. Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer broadcaster Jay Bilas and two-time NBA Executive of the Year Bob Myers will return as game analysts, joining Legler, Jefferson and Burke. Salters will be joined by fellow sideline reporters Katie George and Jorge Sedano along with others to be added.
