Chris Boucher is joining the Boston Celtics.

Boucher has signed a one-year, $3.3 million veteran minimum contract with the Celtics, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania:

Boucher’s seven-season run with the Toronto Raptors has come to an end.  He was the last remaining player from the Raptors 2019 championship roster.

Boucher leaves the Raptors as their all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocks, minutes and games played from off the bench. The 32-year-old played in 406 regular-season games for the Raptors and averaged 8.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game.

Boucher’s minutes greatly diminished under head coach Darko Rajakovic as the teams’ focus shifted towards their youth movement. He completely fell out of the Raptor rotation late in the season and Toronto couldn’t find a trade partner for him.

Boucher should have a bigger role on a Celtics team that has a depleted roster. Boston will be without Jayson Tatum all season. Also, the team lost big men Kristaps Porziņgis and Luke Kornet this offseason. Al Horford is expected to leave this summer as well.

Boucher should be regularly featured in the Celtics rotation as Boston is expected to be in the play-in race with the Raptors.

Boucher’s high energy play from off the bench will be missed in Toronto. He was a consistent contributor and fan favourite.

With Boucher’s departure, Scottie Barnes is now the longest-tenured Raptor.

Raptors sign Olivier Sarr to exhibit 10 contract

The Toronto Raptors announced that they have signed free agent center Olivier Sarr.

According to Blake Murphy of Sportsnet, this contract is an Exhibit 10 deal. Meaning that this provides Sarr a chance to compete for a roster spot in training camp.
