The Toronto Raptors announced that they have signed free agent center Olivier Sarr.
According to Blake Murphy of Sportsnet, this contract is an Exhibit 10 deal. Meaning that this provides Sarr a chance to compete for a roster spot in training camp.
However, if he is waived once Toronto finalizes its 15-man roster, the 26-year-old will join Raptors 905 and develop in the G League.
Sarr notably played his first three seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but only suited up in 46 games total. During the 2021-22 season, he saw his most opportunities by averaging 7 points and 4.2 rebounds:

The French center also displayed an ability to space the floor by shooting 44.8% from 3-point range, granted it was only on 1.3 attempts. But, having a stretch big in the system to develop is not a bad option.
Before Oklahoma City leaped into championship contention, Sarr’s last NBA action came during the 2023-24 season. He only averaged 6.5 minutes and appeared in 15 games.
Through his three-year career, Sarr has yet to get a significant opportunity. Perhaps with the Raptors, he gets a chance to showcase his ability as a stretch big because there is uncertainty behind Jakob Poeltl currently.
Toronto is yet to find a solidified backup behind Poeltl. During training camp, Sarr will compete with Jonathan Mogbo, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Ulrich Chomche.
Specifically with Mogbo and Chomche, they are looking to take that next step and earn rotation minutes. If things do not work out for Sarr, he can develop with the 905 and get a chance with the Raptors or elsewhere in the near future.
Olivier Sarr is the older brother to 2024 No. 1 overall pick Alexandre Sarr
If that last name looks familiar, Olivier Sarr is actually the older brother to Washington Wizards 2024 No. 1 overall pick Alexandre Sarr.
Alexandre averaged 13 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 blocks with Washington in his rookie season. Both brothers share a similar skill set as 7-footers that can space the floor and protect the rim.
Hopefully, Olivier can make a name for himself, so he can compete against Alexandre in the NBA.
