The Toronto Raptors could be eyeing a big move this summer.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, Toronto has been exploring the trade market and could have a busy offseason.
“I’m starting to hear a lot of buzz about Toronto,” Fischer said. “Right now it seems like the Raptors are canvassing the league for more opportunities.”
It appears the Raptors front office are looking to take a giant step forward next season. After acquiring Brandon Ingram at the trade deadline, it seems like Toronto wants to return to playoff contention next year.
Toronto has already been linked to a big move this summer by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst who said the Raptors are looking for a big fish this offseason on The Hoop Collective podcast.
Masai Ujiri is known for being opportunistic and striking on a big trade when the opportunity presents itself. The Raptors traded for Kawhi Leonard in 2018 and they have been linked to major stars in the past like Kevin Durant and Damian Lillard.
If the Raptors are looking to make a massive move and upgrade their roster they will likely part ways with one of their core players. RJ Barrett appears to be the Raptors’ most likely trade candidate. Also, Immanuel Quickley and Jakob Poeltl could be on the table as well. Even Scottie Barnes could find himself in trade talks if the Raptors seriously pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo.
No player seems to be untouchable on Toronto’s roster. With the NBA Draft taking place on June 25, expect trade talks to ramp up again soon.
Toronto potential landing spot for Kevin Durant
The Toronto Raptors have been heavily linked to Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, if the Milwaukee Bucks superstar doesn’t hit the open market, NBA insider Jake Fischer said Toronto could pivot and target Kevin Durant.
