Chris Boucher has been named a finalist for the 2024-25 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award.

This is a recognition that celebrates players who lead efforts to advance equity and justice in their communities.

The winner will receive a $100,000 donation to a justice-focused organization of their choice.

Boucher is a finalist along with Bam Adebayo, Harrison Barnes, Jrue Holiday and CJ McCollum.

Boucher has become an advocate for Black and Caribbean youth in Canada through his SlimmDuck Foundation, which reaches more than 1,000 kids across Toronto and Montreal. He offers basketball camps, scholarship groups and mental health help. He’s also partnered with organizations like Kids Help Phone, the Canadian Mental Health Association and United Way Greater Toronto.

This is an honor for Boucher to be recognized for his efforts. He experienced homelessness growing up in Montreal, before earning a Division I scholarship at Oregon. He then went undrafted and appeared in just one game with the Golden State Warriors, before signing a two-way contract with the Raptors. He’s been with the team since for a seven-year run. Boucher is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

It’s unclear if the Raptors will bring him back. They could opt to sign him to a team friendly deal or let him choose a new direction in free agency. Boucher is 32-year-old and is in the latter stages of his career. However, he can still be a vital depth piece on a contending team.

Raptors will receive 39th pick from Trail Blazers in 2025 NBA Draft

The Toronto Raptors will receive the 39th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

There was a tiebreaker that took place between the Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers, which was won by the Suns. This means the Raptors who own the Blazers second-round pick will get the 39th pick in this year’s NBA Draft.
