Brandon Ingram is excited to be a member of the Toronto Raptors.
According to multiple reports, Ingram had targeted Toronto or Atlanta as his ideal landing spots, per TSN’s Josh Lewenberg, as the 27-year-old ultimately landed with the Raptors.
It hasn’t happened before where an All-Star calibre player willingly chose to play in Toronto.
Ingram is eager to come into the Raptors organization and help them win again. He made that clear during his introductory press conference.
“First thing that I heard [from the Raptors] is they want to make me an All-Star again and I’m going to be a big part of what they do moving forward,” Ingram told reporters after officially signing a three-year, $120 million contract extension with the Raptors. “I want to come here and learn. I want to come here and be a sponge, shift the culture, make it a winning culture and come in here and just listen. Do whatever coach needs me to do and go out and try to be an example every single day.”
Ingram will definitely help the Raptors become a better team. He’s a former All-Star who has proven to be one of the best versatile forwards in the game when healthy.
Ingram is 1 of 6 players to average 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in each of the last 4 seasons, joining LaMelo Ball, Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
He will be an instant scoring threat and playmaker inserted into a starting lineup of Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes and Jakob Poeltl.
“I think they’re gonna complement each other really well because all of those guys can create off the dribble, they can create their own shot, they’re unselfish, they like to move the ball, they like to play for a team,” Rajakovic said when talking about Toronto’s new core with Ingram added to the mix, via Sports Illustrated’s Aaron Rose. “I think they’re gonna be a really good fit together.”
Health will be a big factor for Ingram as the Raptors are putting a lot of trust in their medical staff. However, they believe Ingram’s best days are ahead of him and he can help turn this franchise around.
