The Toronto Raptors snuck in another deal right before the NBA Trade Deadline buzzer.
The Raptors have reportedly acquired James Wiseman and cash from the Indiana Pacers in exchange for a top-55 protected second-round pick, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Wiseman is out for the season with a torn Achilles as the former No. 2 pick played just one game for the Indiana Pacers.
However, this move isn’t about his immediate impact. Wiseman’s contract offers a $2.5 million club option for next season, with only $569,041 guaranteed if waived before June 29. The rest of his deal would become fully guaranteed on Jan. 10, 2026.
This is the Raptors taking a chance on a player in Wiseman who despite his injury concerns is still a young 23-year-old center. Toronto will also receive an undisclosed amount of cash in this deal from the Pacers for taking on his contract.
Wiseman was a big named prospect coming out of college and into the 2020 NBA Draft. He has not lived up to the high expectations, primarily due to injuries decimating the early part of his career.
In 148 career games with the Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons and Pacers, the 23-year-old has averaged 9.1 points and 5.6 rebounds.
Hopefully, Toronto can provide a spark for Wiseman’s career.
Raptors trade Davion Mitchell to Heat
The Toronto Raptors are reportedly sending Davion Mitchell to the Miami Heat for PJ Tucker, a second-round pick and cash considerations, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The second-round pick the Raptors are receiving is the Los Angeles Lakers 2026 second-round pick, per Sportsnet’s Blake Murphy.
