The Feb. 6 trade deadline is now four days away and the Toronto Raptors have meaningful trade chips.
Some names being Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk and Chris Boucher. Jakob Poeltl is a player that opposing general managers will check in on as well.
However, Poeltl does not seem to be on the move at this point. But, things can always change with one phone call.
As a rebuilding team, Toronto is looking to acquire draft assets and potentially move off of veteran players.
With a potential blockbuster trade looming with Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, the Raptors could help Butler get to his ultimate destination.
Those things remain true with the Raptors at this point and they could very well get involved to get Butler to the Golden State Warriors, via NBA insider Marc Stein:
“The Raptors, though, have likewise been widely billed as a team eager to participate in a Butler trade if possible. Amid a belief that the Golden State Warriors continue to weigh whether to commit fully to the pursuit of Butler — which would almost certainly require the Warriors to include Andrew Wiggins as a centerpiece of their trade package to sufficiently reach Butler’s $48.8 million salary this season — there is an equally strong expectation that the Raptors would try to insert themselves into such a trade construction to acquire the Canadian Wiggins.”
Toronto being a third team allows them to be incentivized to get involved. Andrew Wiggins would be a nice addition to the Raptors frontcourt. Wiggins to Toronto would certainly be an interesting outcome.
Toronto has ‘a ton of interest’ in Brandon Ingram
Rumors tend to swirl leading up to the trade deadline as teams tend to throw smoke screens. The Raptors have plenty currently, one being that they registered ‘a ton of interest’ in New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram.
