Chris Boucher has been on a roll for the Toronto Raptors.
Since checking into the game against the New York Knicks in garbage time on Jan. 8, Boucher has been a difference maker for the Raptors from off the bench.
His latest three-game stretch has helped the Raptors notch a 4-game winning streak, which included his 14-point outburst in 18 minutes in the Raptors’ latest victory against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Darko Rajakovic talked about Boucher bringing the energy from off the bench, via the Raptors’ x account:
“I love the way Chris is coming off the bench. I love the energy that he’s bringing, he’s playing with a lot of joy, with a lot of fun. And I think he missed first two shots, there in the first half. And he started like to, to question, and I told him like shoot the ball every single time when you have open shots, rhythm shots, you need to shoot the ball. And that was the message for the whole team tonight, we did not necessarily shoot the three ball really well. But we, we had a lot of opportunities that we really needed to shoot the ball better and more. So he’s [Boucher] doing outstanding job. Really proud of him right now.”
Boucher is shooting 53.2 percent from three in January, which is currently 4th best in the NBA on a minimum of 40 three-point attempts, per Keerthika Uthayakumar.
With how well Boucher has been playing, he’ll certainly draw interest from other teams as the Feb. 6 trade deadline is approaching.
Boucher is the longest tenured Raptor and only player remaining from the 2019 championship roster. Even though his playing time was inconsistent to start the season, Boucher stayed ready.
Now, that he’s been given a consistent role, he’s been a huge spark for this team.
Lakers not targeting Jakob Poeltl
The Los Angeles Lakers don’t appear to be targeting Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl ahead of the trade deadline.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Lakers are not expected to join the hunt for either Poeltl or Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic.
