Scottie Barnes posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while RJ Barrett led the team with 19 points as the Toronto Raptors stormed back from a 21-point deficit to defeat the struggling Orlando Magic 109-93 on Wednesday night.
Gradey Dick contributed 17 points, and Bruce Brown added 15 as the Raptors snapped a four-game losing streak against Orlando.
Toronto also accomplished a season first—winning a game after trailing at halftime. Entering the night, the Raptors were 0-23 in such situations.
Dick played a key role in the turnaround, scoring 10 points in the third quarter, including two dunks, as the Raptors dominated the period 40-20. A five-point halftime deficit quickly turned into a commanding 15-point lead heading into the final quarter.
Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 26 points and 12 rebounds, but Orlando could not capitalize on a fast start that saw them jump out to leads of 10-0 and 32-11 in the opening quarter. The loss marked the Magic’s fourth consecutive defeat.
This was the first time Toronto overcame a 21-point first-quarter deficit to win since January 22, 2014, when they rallied to beat Dallas 93-85 at home.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 20 points, Anthony Black added 17, and Wendell Carter Jr. fouled out with 10 points and 10 rebounds as Orlando lost for the sixth time in its last seven games.
Orlando was also without Cole Anthony due to illness, and Jonathan Isaac played just four minutes before exiting with the same issue.
