The Toronto Raptors have been winning.
Toronto is coming off back-to-back wins over the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics. Their latest win was an impressive showing against the defending NBA Champions.
Scottie Barnes had 18 points and 9 assists, while RJ Barrett had an all-around game. He finished with 22 points, 8 assists and 10 rebounds.
For the third time this season the Raptors notched back-to-back wins and they will look for their first three-game winning streak of the season on Jan. 17 against the Milwaukee Bucks.
“It’s the point. It’s why we’re here. The point is to win. Rebuild or not the goal is to win, Barrett said via Sport Illustrated’s Aaron Rose. “Part of rebuilding is to get to a point where you’re winning again. So you try to win every single time you’re out there on the floor no matter what.”
The last time the Raptors played the Bucks was last week at Scotiabank Arena and it resulted in a brutal loss for them. Barrett called that loss to the Bucks a turning point for the Raptors. “That was our first time with everybody being together and to lose like that, I think that kinda woke everybody up a little bit,” Barrett said via TSN’s Josh Lewenberg. “Since then, we’ve been playing hard and playing together.”
The Raptors have the NBA’s easiest remaining schedule so if they play the way they have in their last two games, more winning will be in store for them.
However, how much winning do the Raptors want to do? That is the ultimate question. Toronto currently has the fourth worst record in the league and if they keep racking up wins that will worsen their draft lottery odds for the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft.
How the Raptors approach the next few weeks will be interesting, but it seems like the players are in it to win.
