Drake wants to be back on the Toronto Raptors broadcast.

The Toronto-based rapper and Raptors global ambassador took to Instagram on Jan. 13 and jokingly questioned when he can re-join the broadcast.

Drake shared an Instagram story during the Raptors’ game against the Golden State Warriors. It was a video that showed Sportsnet’s commentators Matt Devlin and Alvin Williams calling the game. The same video also featured the unused third headset that Drake wore in the past when he joined the broadcast. The caption on the story read “Raptors how long is my headphone ban?? I was born to commentate.”

Drake went on to say “It was good while it lasted. I’ll be back one day.”

Drake’s special appearances have always been a fun part of Raptors broadcasts throughout the years. He adds a layer of entertainment and humor as he has typically been featured on TSN broadcasts alongside Devlin and Jack Armstrong. However, Drake sparked some controversy during his appearance on Nov. 2 when he had some criticism for former Raptors star DeMar DeRozan.

During the broadcast, Drake called DeRozan a “goof” and suggested that he would take down any Raptors banner that honors DeRozan as a hall-of-famer.

The criticism likely stemmed from the on-going feud between Drake and Compton-based rapper Kendrick Lamar. DeRozan appeared in Lamar’s music video “Not Like Us” and jumped on stage during a Lamar live performance solidifying his alignment with the rapper. Drake and Lamar have been in a heated feud for years.

The Raptors game on Jan. 13 marked just the second time Drake has been at a Raptors game since his controversial comments. He was at the game on Dec. 5 when the Raptors played host to the Oklahoma City Thunder but he did not join the broadcast. It’s unknown when Drake will be on the Raptors broadcast again.

Chris Boucher weighs in on his hot play

Chris Boucher took over against the Golden State Warriors in the fourth quarter leading the Toronto Raptors to victory.

He spoke about his recent stretch of hot play after the game.
