Chris Boucher could be on the move ahead of the 2025 NBA Trade Deadline.
Boucher has fallen out of the Raptors rotation as of late and does not fit with the team’s long term vision.
However, that doesn’t mean he still can’t be a valuable contributor for a contending team.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, many teams have their eyes on Boucher ahead of the trade deadline, including the Denver Nuggets:
“Several teams have Boucher on their radar with the trade deadline less than a month away. He certainly has fans within the Nuggets organization.
The 32-year-old played a total of nine minutes in the past four games prior to the Cleveland Cavaliers game on Jan. 9.
Against the Cavaliers, Boucher showed what he’s still capable of. With the Raptors down a couple of rotation pieces, Boucher got extended playing time. He scored 23 points on 9-for-14 shooting to along with 12 rebounds in 27 minutes against a good Cleveland defense.
That’s a statline that could spark a lot of interest from contenting teams looking to add a piece to their second unit ahead of the playoffs.
Even though his role has been inconsistent with Toronto, Boucher is still averaging 10 points and 4.0 rebounds in 17 minutes per game. He is in the final year of a three-year contract, making $10.8 million.
That’s a number that shouldn’t be too difficult to move. The return for Boucher wouldn’t be anything significant, with the Raptors likely receiving a second-round pick along with salary filler.
Given how things stand, it seems like it’s only a matter of time until Boucher is on his way out of Toronto.
