Omoruyi has been solid for Raptors 905 this year. In 14 games this season, the 6-foot-6 forward has averaged 19.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, while shooting 57.7 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from deep.
He was born in Benin City, Nigeria, before moving to Toronto as a child. Omoruyi attended Orangeville Prep in Orangeville, Ontario and played college basketball at Rutgers and Oregon.
Omoruyi went undrafted in 2021 and then signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks. He spent time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, and Washington Wizards where he appeared in 43 games last season.
This move makes sense for the Raptors as Omoruyi will give the team more frontcourt depth.
