Chris Boucher’s days as a member of the Toronto Raptors are numbered.
The veteran big man is widely believed to be moved ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, Boucher and Brooklyn Nets’ Day’Ron Sharpe are both on the trade market.
Boucher has been a key bench piece for the Raptors throughout his career and he has had a solid 2024-25 season thus far. In 24 games, he’s averaging 10.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 18 minutes per contest while shooting 45.5 percent from the field. For his career, Boucher is shooting 32.8 percent from deep on 2.6 threes per game.
Boucher had fallen out of Toronto’s rotation, not appearing in three straight games from Dec. 7-Dec. 12. However, he has since rejoined the rotation and has played in four straight games. This is largely due to the recent groin injury of Jakob Poeltl that has caused him to miss the team’s last 3 games.
Boucher is on an expiring $10.8 million deal as he is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. That figure is a lot easier to move than some of the larger contracts. At 31-years-old, Boucher no longer fits the timeline of a rebuilding Raptors team and he would serve as a steady bench piece on a playoff contender. Boucher is a hustle guy who can knock down threes and defend the perimeter.
The Raptors certainly won’t be able to fork away a first-round pick for Boucher, however, they could obtain second-round draft capital and salary filler, which could be enough for the Raptors to strike a deal.
Boucher is the lone member of the Raptors 2019 championship team. If the Raptors do trade him, it will officially mark the end of an era in Toronto.
Chris Boucher has a little more value than Bruce Brown
Under the new CBA it’s harder to make deals involving larger contracts.
Recently, ESPN’s Bobby Marks talked about how Chris Boucher’s contract is the “sweet spot” in making deals and he argued that Boucher has a little more trade value than Bruce Brown at this point.
